#NewTrend Forget the thigh gap: Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian and Rihanna spur new ‘thighbrow’ trend on social media
When Cara Delevingne stepped out on the catwalk, she became one of the inspirations for the ‘thigh gap’ trend, which demands legs so thin that they do not touch above the knees.
Then the ‘bikini bridge’, which Urban Dictionary describes as ‘when bikini bottoms are suspended between the two hip bones, causing a space between the bikini and the lower abdomen’, became the next disturbing trend.
But in the fast-paced and fickle world of social media, a new body trend is taking hold; meet the thighbrow.
So what on earth is it? The new buzzword refers to the skin roll that forms at the top and front of the thigh whenever you bend forward, sit, or kneel.
According to social media users, it looks just like an eyebrow – and celebrities are, of course, jumping on the bandwagon.
Social media savvy family, the Kardashians, have been showcasing thighbrows on their various summer jaunts.
Khloe, who has been displaying a newly-honed body thanks to her gruelling workout regimes, showed off her thighbrow in a red swimming costume alongside half-sister Kendall, who sported a black swimsuit in the Instagram snap.
The duo’s little sister, Kylie Jenner, has also been showcasing a thighbrow on her Instagram feed, as have Rihanna and Beyonce.
Unlike thigh gaps, bikini bridge and the more recent collarbone club, which saw people uploading selfies to show how many coins they can hold with their collarbones, the thighbrow is deemed to be universal to all body types.
According to Look, the trend is positive for body image. As Laura Jane Turner claims in her article Why You Should Totally Embrace Your Thighbrows: ‘It’s also another wave in the amazing body-positive movement that’s sweeping the internet right now.
‘Because, it’s pretty natural to sport a thighbrow.’
