Before Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington was found dead on Thursday (July 20) from apparent suicide, the band had released a new deeply personal track “Talking to Myself.”
Appropriately, “Talking to Myself” was written by Bennington from his wife Talinda Bentley’s point of view as she watched him battle his personal demons.
“I admit I made mistakes/ But yours might cost you everything/ Can’t you hear me calling you home?” he sings on the track.
Bennington had spoken openly about his struggles with drug and alcohol addictions at various times during his life, as well as about being molested by an older man when he was a child. The musician is survived by Bentley and six children.
